Speakers may perhaps shift from one code to another for the reason to either demonstrate commonality with a societal group, to discuss a certain topic, to distinguish oneself, to express feelings and affections, to participate in social encounters, or to impress and persuade the audience (Lantto, 2018). Furthermore, code-switching is a way of communication because it’s a means to communicate more productively with individuals who might not share your cultural background.
