Non-verbal communication is the presentation of ideas and messages in ways that are not verbal and that includes gestures, eye contact, posture, body language facial expressions, and other forms of communicative methods which are not verbal. Nonverbal communication is very important when trying to build relationships and trying to express the feelings of a person. I have used this type of communication in many instances whereby I was needed to express what I was feeling to my friends and it was very difficult to express the same through the word of mouth. This method can also be used to complement verbal communication in making a message more appealing and more powerful in the manner it is expressed and I have also employed this especially when I have tried to convince my friends or family members to do something for me.

Culture is defined as the terms which refer to the human social behavior and norms within human societies. These include knowledge, arts, laws, capabilities, customs among other aspects of culture. Culture affects in so many different ways how people express themselves non-verbally. For example, a certain culture can state that dressing in a certain manner is prohibited. Therefore if a person dresses in the manner that is prohibited most of the time they are understood as being deviant. From my childhood, I have been taught that it is always very important to treat everyone equally and with the ultimate respect. Therefore this part of my culture has enabled me when in public transport and there is an old person who does not have a seat or maybe they are sitting in an uncomfortable place to always give them my seat. I have also learned how to be happy always and show a face of being joyous because I have been told that happiness comes to those who are happy.

Verbal communication is the communication with the world of the mouth. This involves pronouncing words and stating what a person needs than the other side responding to that specific type of communication. Verbal communication is different from nonverbal communication in that nonverbal communication involves the use of other types of communication apart from word of mouth while verbal communication is specifically fixed to the use of the world of the mouth to communicate. The other difference is that verbal communication does not express emotions, as well as non-verbal communication, does express emotions.

In my relationships, there are basic things that I consider very crucial. The first thing is honesty. This means that if a person is close to me they always have to be honest with me because if they are not honest and I realize it I will get very angry at them. The other thing is respect. Even though I have friends we can joke all-around some issues always have to be addressed with the highest respect. For example, when my friend talks to me about my family there has to be total respect in regards to them and I cannot have my friends talking about uncomfortable stuff about my family.

Communication climate refers to a situation whereby the tone and the manner of communication in a certain relationship are unique and the same does not apply when a person communicates with another person. The communication climate with my parents is most of the time positive and we talk about many different things and issues which affect me as well as family issues and therefore the communication climate is always positive geared towards them supporting me and helping me become the person I want to be. From the manner of communication with my parents, I really would like to extend the same kind of climate to my other communications especially with my instructors at college.
