Have You Ever Google’d Yourself

Have You Ever Google’d Yourself

Without a doubt, while technological advances have made it easy to access all kinds of information on the World Wide Web, it has also opened doors for negativities such as the risk of victimization. I say this as an ardent user of social media, banking apps, news outlets, even online shopping. Before today, I never thought of googling myself and finding out exactly the kind of information about me that is out there. I have always been a rather private person. Although I use social media, I am very particular about the information I put out there for the world to see. After I google’d myself, I am happy that very little information about me is public. Besides my name, current location, and educational history, there is no other information about me on google. When using the internet, I try as much as possible to be discrete because I know that information is power, and people might try to use it to victimize me one day. I would advise people to do the same. They should be intentional about what they share with the world and avoid oversharing personal information as they do not know who might be watching.
