Personal Statement
It is through education that a person attains freedom and respect from other people. I have had to work, in order to sustain the living expenses of my family and me, thus the reason for enrolling in an online university. It is then that I chose to study at the Strayer University, in its on line program. Three years went by, as I studied in a program thought to be web design, but unfortunately, this was not the case, as I came to find out. Luckily, I was invited to attend an interview at Colorado and could not miss out on this exciting opportunity. Graduation was to take place in a year’s time and this opportunity would be a stepping stone in developing my career. On the day of the interview, I got a rude shock after being informed that the course I had enrolled at the university was computer programming, and not web design. It dawned on me that the university had been dishonest, as for the past three years, I was undertaking a wrong program.
I am extremely strong willed as well as motivated, and this is the reason why the issue did not affect me as much. Instead, I decided to settle in Colorado and found a job working at a doctor’s office as a receptionist. There was no way that I could stop living my life and I consoled myself that at least, I had learnt computer programming, which might help me in the future. My work as a receptionist became a marvel to many, including the patients and the doctors. The doctor commended me for the manner, in which medical situations and patients were handled by me. It seems that my natural instincts of working with people in a medical environment were ignited. After working for some time, the doctor made me go with him during his many rounds, checking up on the patients. Many people delighted with my work, have encouraged me to seek a career, working as an assistant to a physician.
The information and recommendations that I have obtained from many different sources, is that Colorado State University is overwhelming. It seems that coming to Colorado is one of the best decisions ever made by me. My work place is conveniently located within a short distance from the university. My intense interest and passion is in helping patients get back their health. It is with the utmost sincerity and humility that I hope to enroll at the prestigious university. In turn, this will be a fresh beginning for me and will cherish it. The people who will benefit most are the community and especially those are not well off. I am actively involved in many sectors of volunteering to the community. My current work experience is an added advantage to me, and I am sure that you will consider this. In the future, I hope to advance my education by obtaining an MBA. My dream of working in a hospital, in top management would have been realized. In terms of academics, I can attest that I am a hardworking student, and this can be seen from my previous grades at Strayer University.
Colorado State University offers valuable educational and social well being for any student. This is the reason why I want to be associated with such an institution. I have high hopes that I will receive a positive feedback, as I attempt to realize my dream of being a physician’s assistant. Hopefully, I will soon be enrolled, and I will progress my career at the top leading institution in the United States.
