Question 1

The effectiveness of the police is always dependent on many factors like work environment. There is an increasing concern over the disruption of the police activity by by-standers who often make it hard for the police to perform their duties. Today, the police have a hard time delivering their duties due to the increased intervention by-standers who interrupt when the police are doing their duties. A case in point is where the members of the public try to defend those caught in crime like during demonstrations (Ma et al., 2016). The issue has been raised severally that shows that the police face a hard time when dealing with crime. One of the most pressing issue is the uprising crime-related instances where the police-citizens interfere with the work of the law enforcers.

The police are unable to carry out their duties when the member sod the public interfere with their activities. The issue has been noted to lead to increased laxity among the police that leads to increased counter-efforts (Cvorovic & Al Maamari, 2017). One of the main roles of the police is to deliver and work in conducive environment. However, the intervention by the members of the public leads to difficulties in delivery if the duties thus creating a loophole in public service delivery. In some serious cases, the police face obstacles when delivering their duties where the members of the public even beat them or throw stones thus making the work of the police hard (Ma et al., 2016). The effectiveness of the police relies on how best the working conditions are and this even touches on their ability to oversee the day to day running of their operations. One of the key aspects of police work delivery is the effectiveness of the working conditions where they are not obstructed in task delivery.

There are many options that the police have when they encounter such behaviors that has to relate to taking matters in their own hands. To ensure that the police are able to delver their tasks, there is need form the members of the public to allow and give space to the law enforcers (Cvorovic & Al Maamari, 2017). However, when the members of the public interfere with the police work, the law enforcers should do all possible to deter the intruders. One of the main reasons the police need to deter the intruders, is because the intervention by the members of the public only intensifies the situation. For example, when the police are cacking down on robbers, the police have the right to secure the area and prevent anyone from interfering with the evidence (Ma et al., 2016). These protocols in crime intervention needs to be upheld at all cost to prevent cases of inconveniences when the police are delivering their duties.

The other option is to look at how and where the police need to draw the line when dealing with those who interfere with their work. The major thing here is to create the barrier where the police can effectively deal with the criminal without inciting too much attention (Ma et al., 2016). Studies have shown that the police as the frontline responders to crime scenes often face hard times and sometimes unable to get the evidence when the members of the public interfere with their work. The other issue that the police can look at and address is the intrusion by the members of he public when it comes to matters of crime deterrence. The members of e public need to understand that the crime deterrence work belongs to the police and they should at all time stay away from such disruptions (Cvorovic & Al Maamari, 2017). It is good a good gesture when the members of the public offer public support for the police in countering crime but this should not be overexploited to an extent of interfering with the crime deterrence work.

Question 2

The inclusion of women in the police force was ailed as one of the key progressive efforts that was hailed in its ability to create stable and all-round law enforcement agency. The women have for years been a critical part and fabric of the society and this is even seen in their leadership roles (Chemankova, 2019). Today, some of the police departments are headed by women and they have even outperformed some of this led by male officers. To better understand how the women police, play a role in leadership and law enforcement that shows that women can equally lead effectively. For many years, women had been excluded in key leadership roles and this even touched on police force. For this reason, the need to have women police has not only proven that gender inclusivity is important but also shows that the society is better balanced when all are included (Murphy et al., 2015). The value of women in the police force also shows that the law enforcement needs to be all round to make it effective and strong. As study done in the year 2015 in California showed that criminals respond more positively to the female police officers than the males.

The U.S. has one of the most robust and effective police forces in the world. In its years of reforms, the police department has even included women that was highly praised as a move to make it more inclusive (Chemankova, 2019). One of the key benefits of having women in the police force is that it makes the minorities feel part of the public service. For many years, the minorities had felt locked out of key government agencies including the police. The scenario took many years to get reforms through several debates that finally gave in to the pressure. The minorities in the U.S. mainly the Blacks had for many years felt left out in the key aspects of leadership including the police force (Novisky et al., 2015). Cultural perceptions of females could lead victims to perceive females as more caring than their male counterparts. In turn, children and women may more easily confide with female officers. Finally, the women were allowed to join and even lead the key police departments and agencies (Murphy et al., 2015). The move did int only encourage the minorities but brought a diverse inclusivity that transformed the face of America’s map in key agencies.

The other benefit of having women in the police force is that it gave the women a voice where they felt valued and part of the country’s progressive agenda. The other outlook into this is that having women in the police force is that it derived the right response to crime as already seen in deterrence measures (Chemankova, 2019). This implies that women have played a big role in countering crime and even achieved some progressive that would have been hard if left for men alone. Women in the police force added a new outlook into crime deterrence where some of the minorities felt even more secure when dealing with female cops than the male police. These trends point to a case where female police created a new outlook and added taste to the nature and performance of the police force (Murphy et al., 2015). In an interview done in New York at a local police department, most of the people interviewed claimed that women’s policing styles can be important, especially when dealing with victims of crime including children and women of abuse or rape.”

Studies have also shown that people caught with minor offences like speeding or reckless driving prefer to deal with female policemen. The trend is supported by the fact that female police often approach an issue with calmness and this adds to their attributed good relations with the members of the public (Chemankova, 2019). Still, having women in the police force has shown that the rate of crime tends to go down as the people do not act in resistance but respond to the issues raised. Increasing the representation of women in policing would potentially reduce the excessive use of force seen in law enforcement today. In turn, this change would reduce the number of lawsuits against police departments which possesses a great benefit for American communities (Novisky et al., 2015). This trend has diversified the way the police force is operated and allowed for a more inclusive and robust law enforcement operation. More efforts are being out in creating a balanced police force by targeting an equal number of both male and female police officers. For example, there is a major transformation in some states that are targeting to have an increase in women police in a bid to increase the positive transformation.
